Dog Daycare

As much as we’d love to be there for our dogs 24/7, the reality is many of us don’t have the luxury of being at home with our dog all the time. That’s where Kip Dog Daycare comes in and is the dog daycare Australian fur families trust.

What is Dog Daycare?

Dog Daycare is a great solution for dog owners looking to keep your dogs active and social when you’re not around. Your dog can meet new friends in a supervised setting, and it provides them with a safe space to do what they do best: be a dog!

With Kip, you won’t need to worry about your dog getting up to mischief at home anymore. We’ll make sure that you know what your dog is up to at daycare with regular photo/video updates.

With more and more pet owners returning to office-based work, dog daycare is becoming a popular option, but it’s not just for people away from their dogs. Many pet owners still routinely drop their dogs off for a day of fun and play at Kip!

What To Expect From Dog Daycare

Daily Schedule

At Kip, we start bright and early, with drop-off before 9am, but the earlier the better. Our staff will greet you and your dog and bring them into the daycare so that your dog can start their day of fun!

Throughout the day, you’ll receive regular photo/video updates in your Customer Portal to stay updated with all the fun. You can also watch all the activities on our social media accounts.

All good things must come to an end, though, and you can pick up your dog at the end of the day. Our carers will bring your dog to you in reception and give you a quick rundown of their day and any feedback they may have.

Then we get to do it all again when they visit us next time!

Daily Schedule

Safe Socialisation

Dogs are pack animals and generally love socialising, but it’s important to offer safe socialisation. We know every dog has their own personality, so we find the best group of playmates for your dog based on their size and how they like to play.

This gives them the chance to meet some like-minded friends, both new and old, while our staff watch over the groups to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Safe Socialisation

Staff and Supervision

At daycare, you can be assured that your dog will be constantly supervised by our animal attendants. Not only are our staff trained in animal care, but they’re pet owners themselves, so they understand the importance of high-quality care.

Kip’s company vet also allows staff access to prompt veterinarian advice should the need arise.

Regular Updates

It’s never easy leaving your dog so we provide regular photo/video updates directly to your personalised Customer Portal. This means you can keep up with all the fun no matter where you are!

We often post on social media too throughout the day, so make sure to follow Kip to stay up to date.

Doggy Daycare Pick Up and Drop Off

While our activities are off the leash, we require all dogs to arrive at Kip on lead and wear a well-fitted collar and/or walking harness. For the safety of both your dog and other customers, your dog is to remain under your control at all times.

At Kip, we like keeping our receptions calm and safe, especially for our newer pups. On arrival, please wait until a staff member is ready to take your dog and do not allow them to roam the daycare, jump on staff or approach other customers.

A Kip Daycare Day

Your dog’s day is split up between morning play and afternoon play. Mornings are full of high-energy play, allowing your dog to get all the sillies out of their system. It’s also the best time for our team to work on some enrichment activities where they can to focus the best. These activities rotate frequently, so your dog will have something new each week.

In between our play sessions is scheduled rest time for your dog. This gives them a chance to wind down and recharge before playing again and helps to manage over-arousal in dogs. A dog that doesn’t have the opportunity to rest can lead to a cranky dog, and a cranky dog can lead to unwanted situations, so we nip that problem in the bud with our scheduled naps.

Once we’ve all had our beauty sleep, it’s time for some light afternoon play and snuggles, and then it’s time to go home!

A Kip Daycare Day

Enrichment Activities

Every visit to Kip means regular mental and physical stimulation through enrichment activities and regular playtime.

Enrichment activities help to work your dog’s brain and can prevent boredom, build confidence, teach skills like problem-solving, and allows them to explore natural behaviours and instincts, like sniffing and chewing.

We rotate our enrichment activities frequently so your dog won’t experience the same activity each week. This also keeps your dog engaged with our team to help build relationships.

Enrichment Activities

Secure Play Areas

Our facilities are purpose-built to make sure that your dog gets the most out of their visit to Kip. With air-conditioning to tackle those warmer days and heaters to keep warm on frostier days, your dog will be comfortable all year round.

Our daycares offer multiple playpens, secured with dog-proof fencing and a double-gate system to prevent escapees. This gives your dog a safe space to play with all their friends and run around to their heart’s content.

Secure Play Areas

Stay Spick and Span

All that play can leave a little mess, so why not cross two hurdles with one leap and give your dog a wash or a groom?

Kip dog daycare offers washes to leave your dog feeling fresh and smelling like daisies so that when you pick them up, all you have to do is take them home and listen to all the fun they had that day!

Things to Know Before Your First Day

So you’ve chosen the date of your first day and put in a request - how exciting! Before we can accept your dog, we need to make sure their vaccinations are up to date. This is for the safety and well-being of your dog and all the other dogs in our care.

  • Puppies can attend daycare 10 days after their second vaccination.
  • Dogs must be de-sexed by 12 months (state-specific regulations apply).
  • An up-to-date C5 (or equivalent) vaccination certificate must be provided, either in person or on the Customer Portal.

Trial Visits at Our Doggy Daycares

Like going to a new school, it may take a few visits before your dog feels comfortable at daycare. That’s why a trial day is so important. These are usually shorter days where our team will ease them into the daycare environment and assess their reactions to the pens, other dogs, and staff.

We’ll update you on how they’re settling in mid-morning, and if they pass with flying colours, they’re welcome to stay the whole day. All dogs that visit Kip have passed this temperament assessment.

At the end of their first day, our team will walk you through their report card and provide feedback. Remember, it’s normal for your pup not to settle completely on their first visit.

Different daycares have different philosophies on which dogs to take, and we believe it's essential that all our dogs LOVE coming to Kip rather than just tolerating it.

What Are The Benefits of Doggy Daycare?

Scheduled Routines

Dogs thrive on routine, both at home and at daycare. By keeping a routine, your dog is less likely to experience stress, and they can learn to adapt better to different environments too. In fact, some pet parents claim that their dog knows what days are daycare days and can’t wait to get out the door (and into our doors!).

Scheduled Routines

Mental & Physical Health for Dogs

Not only will your dog get lots of physical exercise, but they’ll get plenty of mental stimulation too. They’ll have the chance to burn off their energy in a safe and secure environment, keeping their bodies and their brains fit and healthy.

Social Skills for Dogs

Even dogs need a place to develop their social skills, and daycare is one of the best places to do that. They’ll learn how to behave around other dogs and read their social cues. This can help prevent aggression and other behavioural issues that can arise when dogs aren’t properly socialised.

Dog Daycare FAQ’s

What are your opening hours?

Our daycares are open Monday - Friday. Please check with your local Kip for specific hours.

We are closed on weekends and public holidays and during our shutdown period over Christmas and New Year, to give our dedicated pet sitters and dog lovers a much-deserved break. This closure period varies each year, so please watch our social channels for updates!

How much does dog daycare cost?

Dog daycare costs vary based on location and frequency of your visits. We don’t charge by size or breed of dog.

Our most popular option is the Weekly Membership - please refer to your local Kip for their prices.

Casual half-day and full-day rates are also available, or if you prefer to bulk-buy, we also have 10 and 20 pack visits available.

Do I need to bring anything when my dog comes to daycare?

We provide everything that your dog may need throughout their visit to Kip. However, if you have special dietary requirements or medication, please let us know and provide their meals/medication with details on when to provide it to your dog.

Does my dog need to be vaccinated and desexed?

To keep all members of the Kip family safe, dogs can attend 10 days after their second vaccination (C5 or equivalent), be wormed and treated for fleas. Our facility will need proof of current vaccination from pet owners (vaccination certificate). We do not accept titre tests.

Dogs must also be desexed by 12 months (state-specific regulations apply).

How old does my dog need to be to come to doggy daycare?

If your dog has all the required vaccinations (C5 or above) and a vaccination certificate is provided, they’re welcome to join us! Puppies can attend 10 days after their second puppy vaccination.

Can I keep in touch with my dog throughout the day?

We provide regular video/photo updates of your dog throughout the day directly to your personalised Customer Portal. Our daycares will also often post on social media throughout the day, so it’s a great way to catch up with all the action.

Why is a trial assessment day important for my dog?

Your first day trial is important to ensure the daycare environment is the right fit for your dog. Our trials are usually held on quieter days so your dog isn’t overwhelmed.

Once your dog starts, we make sure to place your dog with a group of similar personalities. That way, they’ll be able to play safely, get the right balance of fun and chill they need and have the best day, every day.

What if my dog is shy or anxious?

Daycare can be a great confidence booster for shy or anxious dogs! All dogs that visit Kip have completed a trial day and temperament assessment and can bring out the best in your dog.

Ongoing sessions under the proper supervision with other dogs are perfect for dogs with anxiety as they are slowly introduced to social situations with other dogs in a controlled and safe environment.

What happens if my dog is involved in an emergency or accident?

As pet parents ourselves, we understand the need for your pet to be looked after at all times and how stressful it can be to leave your furry friend with pet sitters.

In the event of an emergency, you and/or your secondary contact will be notified immediately for collection. Kip employees will make every attempt to continue care where it is safe to do so and will transport your dog to our preferred local vet if required. Our company vet is also available for prompt veterinary advice.
