Leaving our two boys for 3 weeks was not an easy decision. They are our babies, and as the owners of two large working breeds, I was incredibly nervous about sending them away. Looking back now, it was one of the best decisions we’ve made. From the moment we met Stewart and Beck, it was clear that they genuinely understood dogs. They took the time to get to know our boys as individuals, understanding their different personalities, strengths, and areas that needed work. Throughout the program they did an amazing job teaching new skills, sharpening up existing ones, and helping them become the best versions of themselves. The handover session was incredibly thorough and gave me a real understanding of everything they had learned during their time away. The training guide sent home with us has also been a huge help and has made it easy to continue their training and stay consistent. What impressed me most was how well the team understood and worked with our dogs. Our boys came home with so much more focus, confidence, and understanding, and the positive changes have made a huge difference to our day-to-day life. Things are more enjoyable, less stressful, and we have a much stronger foundation to continue building on. The entire team is truly amazing at what they do, and I can’t thank Stewart, Beck, and everyone involved enough for the care, knowledge, and dedication they put into our dogs. If you’re considering the program, I can’t recommend it highly enough. It was worth every dollar and has genuinely changed our lives for the better.
Our blue heeler had her first stay at Kips Yarra Valley. The Kips staff were very professional and we believe that our dog had a wonderful stay. For our dog it will be the first of many stays. The dog training is excellent. A big thank you to reception, Pete and all the trainers. Rod Lamplugh, Essendon
Our dog recently boarded at Kip Homestead and we couldn’t be happier with his stay. He had some special needs due to his background as a rescue and the staff went over and above to make sure his stay was comfortable. Thank you!
I have just had my beautiful baby Creed enrolled in the 3 week board and train program. I was initially apprehensive about doing this as he is a rescue who spent 5 months waiting for his furever home and was worried how he would react to the environment - but it is the best decision I have ever made. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Before he attended Creed was very reactive to other dogs, he would get way too excited and then frustrated and would jump around making all sorts of weird noises. During his time at Kip he had a dedicated trainer Stewart who worked with him daily. I got regular photo and video updates of Creeds progress which was awesome. When I picked Creed up I had an in depth handover and did some work with Creed under Stewart's guidance. We are now at home and the difference is amazing. We can walk through the park and don't have to avoid places with other dogs as Creed is not reacting. There is no pulling on the lead and walks are far more enjoyable for both of us. I cannot thank the amazing Stewart and the team at Kip for looking after my boy so well and giving him the skills to live his best life. We will be going on so many more adventures now that we won't have to worry about how Creed is going to react to other dogs.
Kip Homestead Yarra Valley , particularly David and Olivia , did an amazing job with our two 5 yr old poodles. We have been home 2 hrs and they are settled and behaving very well. Thank you to Kip and the two awesome trainers above, we can highly recommend you! We will be back even though we are over an hour away, the boys are more settled and so happy
We highly recommend Stewart and the team at Kip. Our two-year-old Rottweiler had reactive issues towards other dogs and walks were becoming really difficult, but we were given the skills and confidence to manage his behaviour both on walks and at home. He helped us achieve loose lead walking around other dogs and even got our dog calmly settled at a café with distractions — something we never thought we’d be able to do. The signup process with Kip was also really easy and straightforward from the start. The updates though out the week put us at ease.
Could not recommend Kip enough!! We recently sent Oscar there for training and the difference has been amazing. Bec was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely cared about helping both Oscar and us throughout the whole process. What we loved most was how tailored the training was — definitely not a one-size fits all approach. They really took the time to understand Oscar, his personality, and what would work best for him. They even adjusted his meals to make sure with all the training and activity he was still hitting his daily intake. Oscar still has his goofy, loving personality which we absolutely adore, but he’s now a much more controlled, confident, and well-mannered dog. Honestly worth every penny — so grateful to Bec and the whole team!!
Our dog loved his short stay so much that he was whining in the car on the way back home, haha. Then, overnight, proceeded to rip up his bed pillow in what I am sure is an act of defiance (he is 14 and should know better)! I'm putting it down to the air-conditioned rooms lol
10/10 would highly recommend. Amazing people all around there. My trainer I had, Peter, completely turned around my dog within his 3 week stay at Kip.
Sometimes the long shots pay off big! Our beloved 4 year old 55kg Rottweiler was terrorising the neighbourhood during our evening walks. Lunging aggressively at anyone and anything that came within our proximity. I admire the guarding breed immensely however it was getting to a point our family were about to make that difficult decision. As a last “Hail Mary” we asked Kip Homestead to access and possibly train. Best decision we made. 3 sessions later, dramatic improvements in our boy! Peter and the team are miracle workers. Behaviour correction, loading the markers, identifying critical distances, educating about a new mindset all paid off big time. Huge respect and thankfulness to Peter our trainer and Jess and the entire team at Kip homestead.
Highly recommended! Boris and I learnt so much about training and the the start my puppy needed I was struggling with everything and the 2 week training was the start we needed
The board-and-train program was fantastic! Peter is an excellent trainer who kept us regularly updated on our dog’s progress. Our dog started off a bit nervous, but with Peter’s guidance, he’s now able to walk around other dogs without reacting, which is an incredible improvement. Our dog clearly had a wonderful experience, and we’re so grateful for the care, attention, and support provided throughout. Highly recommend!
Puggy smallz loves his stay and come back so happy and full of playful energy. Can't recommend any higher
Our 3ish year old rescue dog did the 2 week board and train while we went on holidays and we've come back to changed dog! She is so much calmer and less reactive. Stewart did an incredible job training her (and more importantly us humans on our return!) Still plenty of work to do at our end, but as someone who wasn't sure whether it would be worth the outlay - I wanted to write the review to confirm i would not hesitate to recommend the program especially Stewart.
The dog's are in the best hands ever..
We are beyond greatful for Pete and the team at Kip Yarra Valley for their incredible work with our very anxious and reactive 2 year old amstaff who is not food driven AT ALL, which made training seem impossible for us at home. We've spent the last 2 years feeling overwhelmed and daunted by the thought of walks and training and after 21 days we picked up our girl and literally cried at how calm she was around other dogs, and how responsive she was on the lead. The handover session included clear instructions to follow at home, and we've been able to apply those learnings in our home environment with ease. I cannot thank Pete and the team enough! If you are on the fence about sending your dog to Kip, I HIGHLY reccomend you do it!
We are very happy with the service and level of care provided by Kip Homestead during Dash’s stay. From the beginning, the team made us feel confident that he was in great hands. Dash came home very happy, and we truly believe he enjoyed his time at the centre, especially the time spent with his instructor and carers. A special thank you to Lydia, who was wonderful with Dash and clearly cared for him very well. We also really appreciated the daily updates, photos and videos that were sent to us. It was lovely to see Dash enjoying his playtime and having such a great experience. Thank you again to Lydia and the whole team at Kip Homestead. We would happily recommend them to anyone looking for a caring and professional place for their dog.

Leia is my first rescue dog. I have found it a very rewarding but challenging experience. I’ve been working with my dog for over a year. Although I have seen significant improvement I was still having issues with her reactivity with other dogs. I decided to utilise the train and board program while I was on an overseas trip. The improvement has been incredible. I also enjoyed the on-line course and the fact that you can reach out post training. Our trainer Peter has been very supportive. His experience and the daily exposure to other dogs where Leia could be tested in a safe environment has meant that we can now walk past other dogs politely. We still have plenty to work on, but the intensive board and train program has meant that we have progressed much quicker and I highly recommend it. We have had three stays at KIP. My dog comes home happy. I also like the fact that you can add extra activities for your dog which I always do.
Absolutely amazing care given to my pets . Staff full of knowledge and communication was fabulous with a little diary update form my animals about there stay. 😀
Ella worked beautifully with David during her short stay. She immediately formed a bond with him. Looking forward to her having more training.
We sent our ball-obsessed bordoodle Perri for the 3 week board and train and were so so happy with the team at Kip Homestead. David was the prefect trainer for Perri, specialised in dealing with working dogs, he was able to manage Perri's bad habits (that we now see we were responsible for reinforcing) and set him on the path to being able to control his impulses and for us to have the tools we need to give him a satisfying life. Thanks Kip team!!
Kip has changed our and our dog's lives! We had a 3 week training and boarding stay for our 5.5 yo LabxHeeler who had some behavioural issues. After 3 weeks we notice a remarkable difference in her and of course the 2 hour training for the humans has been invaluable in helping us to reinforce the new skills and behaviours. David was fantastic.. he connected with our dog and vice versa and immediately knew what her issues were and he worked with her successfully. We are so grateful to Kip and can't recommend them highly enough.
Our Ned has just completed 3 weeks under the guidance of David and it has been worth every cent. Amazing communication the entire time. Regular updates. We now have such a better understanding of Ned and his uniqueness. Not only that but David has been so supportive in how our children can be involved in continuing Neds training at home. Highly recommend the team at Kip Yarra Valley. We will definitely be using their boarding services for Ned for any upcoming holidays.
Trained my 6 year old dog some new tricks, allowed us to understand how a dogs mind think and how we can keep up with the training so that it stays, definitely worth it!!
We had our 2 dogs (Lenny & Sonny) booked in for the 3-week board and train program at KIP. We were lucky to have them paired with David & Beck who were excellent in their induction communication, consistent training updates throughout the stay and the super-impressive handover session. We are very impressed with the progress they made with our boys and the bond that they had clearly created. It was reassuring knowing they were being looked after to such a high standard. The whole process was very professional but it's still clear everyone at KIP genuinely cares a lot for the dogs. We look forward to continuing on from their hard work in our own training session and bringing them back for more training in the future!
I could not rate KIP’s Board and Train highly enough. My teenage Rottweiler Henry has come home after the 3 week program recently and the effects of his training and the deep love that the staff have for dogs is truly evident. I was kept up to date regularly and could follow along with my homework. Stewart was wonderful and Henry clearly connected with him ( but a bit pooped because his brain is hurting a bit from all that learning 😂).Thankyou KIP
David was very thorough with our dog’s training and debriefing us on her newly-learned skills. You can really tell when a trainer has a passion for sharing his training skills and making sure the dog goes back to an environment where those skills are consistently reinforced. He is genuinely awesome at what he does and we couldn’t be happier with everything we learned from him during the handover.
Our dog, Monty, was highly anxious. Whenever anyone came to the house he became aggressive, barking, lunging and snapping at anyone who came to the door. He was also terrified of dogs and would become immediately aggressive and uncontrollable as soon as he saw one. We couldn't walk him as he became unmanageable as soon as we stepped outside our front gate. Car rides were a nightmare as he threw himself around barking at anyone who walked by. When the whole family had to go overseas for an extended period of time we weren't sure what we were going to do. Kip were amazing! Not only were they able to feed and care for him during our absence, but they also worked with him every day to train him and work on his ability to tolerate strangers and dogs. When we returned from our trip we couldn't believe the difference in his behaviour. He is calm and happy. We can have visitors to the house again, we've been able to walk him, and he can even walk past dogs without becoming overly stressed and aggressive. We can't thank Beck enough for all of her work with him. Monty loved his time at Kip and we are so happy with how well he has done.
While I was in Japan for three weeks, I left my dog Nox with Kip for boarding and training, and I was extremely happy with the experience. The trainer, David, was patient, caring, and very professional. Nox came home calmer, more focused, and much more responsive. I also really appreciated the after-care — David spent plenty of time handing Nox back to me and clearly explained how to continue the training at home. Highly recommend Kip and David for anyone looking for a reliable and high-quality boarding and training service.
Been using these guys for some time now. Always really care for our dogs, especially most recently our aging kelpie. They modified exercise for her and offered bushwalks which she loved. Not the cheapest option but our pets are worth investing in. daily photos and videos to show her playing and having the time of her life. They genuinely love animals and it shows in the level of care
My dog appeared to have had a great time while in care, he was happy and healthy and didn't appear stressed when we picked him up
Absolutely awesome! The daily photo and video updates of our happy pets gave us total peace of mind. Highly recommend!
