My two Goldens have just spent 15 days at Kip Homestead and I couldn't be happier with how they have been looked after. They were happy and calm when we picked them up and having daily updates for them with videos and photos gave me reassurance that they were being well looked after. Thanks everyone at Kip.
My very good boy Shadow is rather anxious with separation. It is great to know that he was well cared for during his train and stay with Kip. The updates made me feel comfortable whilst he needed to be elsewhere, and it's great to know there is a boarding kennel he is comfortable enough with now that he's had the extra attention of the training program. The trainer Olivia was very passionate, and I was happy that Shadow received the dedicated attention of her over his stay. He came home with the beginnings of some great progress.
I was very happy with the care my very elderly cat received from the Kip Homestead Yarra Valley team. Thank you 😊
My border collie x GWP had the 3 week board and train program. She was a covid dog and not well socialised, and would pull on the lesh and jump on other dogs like it was nobody's business. Only my husband could walk her. I was reluctant to spend that amount of money on Kip, but now wished I had done it sooner! She can loose-lead walk, she doesn't pull, she comes when called. Heaven!
Stewart at Kip was fantastic, our Labrador recently had a two week stay in their training program and the improvement in his behaviour has been significant, he now walks on a loose lead, we have strategies to manage his initial crazy excitement and gradually teach him to not bark at other dogs and we now know how to instil the right behaviours. We’ll certainly be back the next time we go away.
I could not recommend Kip Homestead Yarra Valley enough. I have a challenging large dog and it's the only place we feel comfortable taking her, they treat her with love and care and she enjoys going there. they are also incredible with the regular photo and video updates while you are away!
This was my 1st time boarding my dogs and I couldn’t be more impressed. The staff are welcoming caring and attentive. The kennels and grounds are amazing. One of my dogs is recovering from crucial ligaments operation and is not allowed to jump or run and must be on a lead when out. The staff obliged and looked after him and his mum so well. Would not hesitate to board my dogs again at Kip Wonga Park
We took our American Bulldog for boarding training here. It is a beautiful place and very clean. The trainer we met David, was very friendly, patient and so helpful. They did a great job with teaching Kash and teaching us. Thank you so much for everything!
We sent our puppy to board & train for 2 weeks & we are so glad we chose Kip! I was a bit apprehensive leaving our pup there seeing as she hadn’t been away from us before but Kip made sure she settled in well & regularly updated me with pictures, videos & emails. Catherine worked amazingly with our pup, it was clear from the updates that Roo was learning a lot from her trainer & enjoying the experience too! At handover Catherine was very thorough in covering everything we needed to know, answering all our questions & taking time to show us how to progress with Roo! She has come home a much more confident puppy & we are eager to work with her to continue her training! Thanks so much to Catherine & everyone at Kip for taking such good care of Roo!
Highly recommend Kip Homestead, Yarra Valley. The staff were excellent. The enrolment process was very easy and the trainers worked with me to ensure both myself and Crippa were comfortable. I signed up Crippa for the Board and Train program and I can't thank Peter enough for the care and training that he provided to Crippa whilst we were away. Peter provided us with updates on Crippa's progress by either photos and videos which we were able to see how comfortable Crippa was with Peter. Peter really knows the working breed dog and was able to work around the stubbornness of my Rottweiler :). We would definitely be back again for boarding when I am travelling again.
Brought my pup Atlas in for their Board and Train program and I’m so pleased with the progress he’s made while in their care. Massive thanks to David (and Stewart) who were awesome with him and so helpful with their training tips. I can tell he really enjoyed his time at Kip. And now that he’s back home and we’ve continued our training with the appropriate guidance from his trainers our bond has only gotten stronger.
We recently took in a 10-year-old Border Collie who wasn't adequately socialised or stimulated by his previous owner. Kip and their sheep dog specialist, David, have been brilliant at helping us understand how to best communicate with the dog to give him the best chance at an active and happy life with us. We have been home for a few weeks now and things are much improved. Thanks David!
This was my pup Frankie’s first time staying in a boarding kennel. I was nervous as he hasn’t spent much time alone/away from me before and he can be quite sensitive and needy. From the moment we arrived we were greeted so warmly and professionally by the team and I immediately felt assured he would be in the best hands. He came home the happiest, healthiest, and most energetic boy after clearly having an amazing stay. So grateful to the Kip team for taking such good care of my sweet boy and will absolutely be back! Thanks so much :)
We had an amazing experience with Kip homestead. Our Maisy was part of the board and train program for 3 weeks while we were overseas on a holiday. Olivia did an amazing job with Maisy, she was very informative and kept us up to date with her progress. We could see even during the first week that she was progressing and settling in well. Maisy has learnt a lot during her stay and we were able to see all of this during handover. Olivia guided us through the training and provided us with the equipment necessary to continue training at home. We will continue to reinforce these new behaviors and continue training daily at home and I’m sure in due time Maisy will become an even better girl than she already is now, thankyou to the whole team for making this experience stress free, we will definately be bringing Maisy back for more boarding in the future, but hopefully no more training sessions will be necessary 😉
Kip were wonderful for my dog Barney who struggles with anxiety & reactivity. Olivia worked wonders with him and made a lot of progress with his leash walking and dog reactivity. She has also given me the tools to continue his training at home. They really looked after him and kept me updated. I would totally recommend Kip Yarra Valley & Olivia
We sent Ivy to Kip from May 9 to May 29 for a 20-day training block with David, and we’re really happy with the experience. David clearly has a lot of experience with working dogs — he was the first person to properly identify Ivy’s actual breed makeup and explain her working-line traits, like her high prey drive and intensity. He gave us a really solid foundation to work with, from managing her arousal levels to leash skills and helping her learn to focus on us around distractions. It wasn’t just about training Ivy — he also taught us how to handle and communicate with her more clearly and confidently. Most importantly, he was kind and really caring with Ivy throughout the whole process. You can tell he genuinely cares about the dogs he works with. We’re super grateful for the time and effort he put in.
I could not recommend this place more. Please do not be hesitant about sending your pet here! They were great at putting my mind at ease and answering all my questions. They are extremely thorough in everything they do from the moment you book in your pet to when you pick them up. The staff were amazing and I can’t thank my trainer, Pete enough for an amazing job he did with my dog Sunday and the handover he did when picking her up was very helpful. In 3 weeks she has improved significantly and I couldn’t have done it without the help of the trainer and staff at Kip Homestead.

I can't recommend Kip Homestead enough. It was the first time we left our very small and nervous dogs. The staff were excellent. The enrolment, drop off and pick up was very professional and well organised. Thanks for taking such good care of them. I loved the report card! That was cute.
Thank you so much to all the team at Kip Homestead. From the first call to pick up it has been a perfect experience, our boy Darcy has obviously had the very best time. What Pete and the other trainers forwarded with the training far exceeded all expectations, your engagement with him was awesome to see. Apologies as I didn't follow up with who did the walks but thank you too, the videos and the feed back was great. I cannot thank you all enough and will not hesitate to recommend you to absolutely anyone. You'll all see Darcy again, Thank you.
Both my girl Nixie and I Love the team at Kip Homestead- we wish you could give More than 5 stars!! I love knowing that whilst I’m away Nix is being loved and cared for! So appreciate the daily messages, photos and videos! Tonight after Nixie came home she curled up on the couch and drifted into the deepest sleep- over half an hour I lay pizza crusts next to her but she only stirred after 7 crusts because I moved off the couch to open the door! 😂 Thoroughly recommend Kip Homestead- Nixie is already booked in for another stay later in the year! 🐶 Board and train stays are great too!
Our beagle, Milo, did the board and train program. He was well looked after and we received regular updates. Special thanks to trainer David who has clearly taught Milo some new manners and spent a good amount of time also teaching us the tools we need to change bad behaviours.
We had our German Shepherd x Husky, Hazel, in for the board and train program. From arrival, we were greeted by beautiful facilities and friendly staff. We met Hazel's trainer, Pete, who was friendly, professional, reassuring and a great communicator. This was our first time leaving Hazel with anyone other than family for an extended period and, although we missed her, I never worried because I knew she was in great hands. Pete kept us up to date with how Hazel was going and when we picked her up, we could see the genuine connection they had built. Pete is not only great at his job, but clearly has a real love for dogs, which is exactly what you want when entrusting your fur baby to someone. The handover was brilliant as well. It built on the online training we had done and Pete explained things clearly and in a constructive way. I can't believe how much we learnt in a couple of hours with Pete and how much improvement there was in Hazel. Pete has helped developed Hazel so much and we can't wait to build on that work. Thank you KIP and a particular thank you to Pete. Thanks so much for looking after my darling girl.
I would highly recommend Kip Homestead Dog board and training program. I was planning to have surgery and knew that my young Groodle would be hard for me to manage whilst recovering and on crutches and I thought what better time than to get him boarded and trained at the same time. The facilities are great and his trainer David did a wonderful job and the updates, communication and handover are really important to carry the program forward at home.
I think mochi enjoyed the training program, they were professional imo :3
Took fantastic care of our 2 dogs
Highly recommend the team at Kip Homestead, Yarra Valley. They take amazing care of our dog Snow, and are excellent with their training sessions too. It’s so amazing to have peace of mind that our Swiss Shepherd is in safe and caring hands.
Our super high energy pup absolutely loved her stay with Kip. She was enrolled in the board and train program, which was tailored to suit her individual needs. We got regular updates, photos and even had the choice of supplying her own food. Better yet, at the end of her stay we had a comprehensive handover from her trainer, which was very educational and allowed us to continue said training at home. Highly recommend.
Wow. I have just got my beautiful border collie back from train and board. The updates along the way of her stay were so beautiful and assuring. Beck is her amazing trainer and my goodness is she amazing. My dogs new found confidence and happiness is quite astonishing. Getting home it’s still my beautiful dog but she is calm, has more confidence and I can see is less anxious. On day one of being home things that have been really triggering for her are now manageable with the tools Beck has given us. We have work to do as her parents and are grateful for the support and guidance of Beck. This place is amazing!
My dog is reactive to other dogs so we were a bit concerned with any type of boarding situation, but the staff at Kip Homestead answered all our questions and made us confident Tyson was going to be okay. We got daily updates and pictures, and we joked that he looked like he was having such a good time he wouldn’t want to come home. He exceeded our expectations and were very proud fluffy parents, and I have no doubt that was largely contributed to by the staff making him feel so at home. We’re going to make weekend sleepovers and their training program a regular occurrence.
A huge thank you to all the staff and carers at Kip Homestead Yarra Valley. Our five year old german shepherd Layla had a wonderful stay this weekend. Particular thanks to Jess for taking a special interest in Layla and looking after her so well. Layla will be returning in a few weeks time and we are pleased she will be so well cared for. We highly recommend Kip Homestead Yarra Valley.
Beck was really amazing with my little 12 month old Toy Cavoodle! I returned from holidays to a new pup. She is also great with follow emails if I have any questions after departure. Would highly recommend the team at Kip!
Super impressed with the Board & Train program for Alfie! David was incredibly knowledgeable and patient with both Alfie (and me). I've walked away with a very happy dog and feel much more relaxed and confident about continuing the training - realising that it doesn’t have to be as complicated as I thought! The handover was really helpful to practice applying everything, and supported by heaps of resources, tips. Love the ongoing followup emails/calls for questions!
I sent my 10-year-old Doberman to Kip for a 3-week stay, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. Alaina warmly welcomed us and followed up on the check-in, making us feel at ease. During my visits, I met Jess and several members of the Kip team , and they were all incredibly friendly. During the stay, I signed my dog up for the board and train program to address his leash pulling and reactivity with other dogs. Peter, the lead trainer, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He provided detailed and useful guidance on my dog's behavior. I appreciated Kip's methodology, which focuses on guiding dogs to make good choices through correction and reward. I learned a lot from Peter. Amazingly, my dog didn't pull on the leash on the first day after returning home. We enjoyed our walk more than ever! I highly recommend Kip.
Five Stars for KIP! We recently sent our 8-month-old Golden Retriever to KIP Yarra Valley’s Board and Train program. We couldn't be happier with the experience. Our pup has some age and breed-related behavioural challenges, including pulling on the lead, jumping up, reactivity to dogs and people, and moderate separation anxiety. From the moment we arrived, we were incredibly impressed by KIP’s state-of-the-art facilities, personnel and their structured methodology (positive reinforcement training). Our trainer, Cathrine, was outstanding in every way. She listened keenly to our concerns and provided tailored training that delivered clearly visible improvements in our dog's behaviour. Most importantly, our dog Blondie loved Cathrine and seemed very happy in the care of KIP - evident in daily video updates. Cathrine equipped us with practical and actionable techniques to continue reinforcing the training at home. Her communication and updates were brilliant, with KIP’s online platform providing daily videos, photos, and progress reports. We also found their owner training portal incredibly valuable, ensuring that both dog and owner receive expert guidance! Yes, KIP is expensive but it’s worth it. Given the extensive facilities, quality staff and training and results we feel it’s excellent value for money. Collecting an immaculately clean pooch who had been washed and blow-dried was an unexpected and welcome benefit. We have already booked our dog’s next stay which is an endorsement in itself. Overall, KIP exceeded our expectations with a perfect 10/10 experience! We highly recommend KIP to anyone looking for a professional and results-focussed training program and first-rate boarding facilities.
FAQs
Our vaccination policy for pet boarding is as follows:
Vaccination Requirement: Your pet must be vaccinated, and the vaccination must be valid for the entire duration of your pet's stay.
- Puppies may board 10 days after their final puppy vaccines as long as they are C5 or equivalent.
- Kittens may board 10 days after their final kitten vaccines as long as they are F3 or equivalent.
- Dogs must have an up-to-date C5 (or equivalent) vaccination.
- Cats must have an up-to-date F3 vaccination.
10-Day Rule: If your pet's previous vaccination had lapsed by more than 14 days, the new vaccine must be administered at least 10 days before the check-in date.
Vaccination Documentation: You are required to provide proof of your pet’s current vaccination. If your pet is checking in within 10 days of their most recent vaccination, we also require the certificate from their immediate prior vaccination.
We are able to care for pets if they’re not desexed. We do not take dogs in heat across our centres. To the extent your dog comes into heat whilst in our care, we will require an emergency contact to pick them up within 24 hours of being notified. We will not accommodate entire males in the same room as undesexed females.
We provide door-to-door transport from major metro cities for $35 one way. You will be contacted by the driver with an estimated arrival time the day before your booking commences.
